Following a dramatic 12-run victory over the Mumbai Indians on Friday night at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, both young spinners Digvesh Singh and captain Rishabh Pant were disciplined for individual violations of the IPL Code of Conduct. In accordance with Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh for his team's poor over-rate in Match 16, which was LSG's first such infraction of the season. Teams are required by the rule to finish their overs within the allotted time, and Pant, as captain, was blamed for the failure.

Pant was fined INR 12 lakh because this was his team's first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offenses. In the meantime, LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi was found guilty of violating the IPL Code of Conduct and was fined 50% of his match earnings. Digvesh's 'notebook' celebration for Naman Dhir was his second Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season. He had previously given Priyansh Arya, the opener for the Punjab Kings, a similar send-off in LSG's last game at the same location on April 1.

Rishabh Pant in trouble:

An IPL statement read, "Rishabh Pant, Captain, Lucknow Super Giants, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 16 of the IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on Friday."

The visitors were stopped 12 runs short of the 204-run goal by the energetic bowling of the Lucknow Super Giants, who went back to winning ways. Openers Mitchell Marsh (60 off 31) and Aiden Markram (53 off 38) set the stage for a 200-plus total on a black-soil surface. Ayush Badoni and David Miller capitalized on the explosive star, while Nicholas Pooran and Pant could not get going.

Miller's (14-ball 27) and Badoni's (19-ball 30) swift cameos made sure that the openers' early momentum was not lost. Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, Digvesh, and Shardul Thakur all returned with wickets each while bowling, and Digvesh won Player of the Match for his economical 1 for 21 in four overs.
