Pacer Akash Deep has joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad before their Friday, April 4, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 matchup against the Mumbai Indians (MI). After missing action since December 2024 due to a back injury, the 27-year-old fast bowler is now fully recovered. Given that LSG has been dealing with pace attack injuries, his arrival was timely.
The five-time winners, Mumbai Indians, will play the Rishabh Pant-led team on April 4 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, their home field. A few days prior to the intense event, on Wednesday night, Deep joined the LSG camp. The 28-year-old fast bowler was recuperating from a back ailment, which prevented him from playing in LSG's last three games.
Akash Deep Overcomes Injury Setback:
The team had a poor start to the 2025 Indian Premier League, winning only one of their opening three games. Due to injuries, the team's bowling section has been a big source of concern. In addition to a spinal stress problem, speedster Mayank Yadav has been battling a toe injury.
Due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear sustained in December 2024, Mohsin Khan will not be participating in the competition at all. Shardul Thakur will take his place. Despite returning from an injury layoff, Avesh Khan, another pace option, has not yet reached his best.
A preview of Deep's comeback to the senior team on X has now been released by LSG's official account. Deep can be seen pulling up to the location in a white MUV in the video. He walked into the lobby wearing a pair of light blue pants and a beige shirt.

Mitchell Marsh, an all-rounder for Australia, met Deep at the entrance gate, grinning broadly and clapping for the Indian bowler. Before giving his LSG comrade a hug, Deep gave him a humble salute. In addition, the 28-year-old shook the hand of South African batsman David Miller before rejoining the team.
