A fiery display by William O'Rourke and a fifth five-wicket haul from New Zealand pacer Matt Henry saw India thrashed for their lowest-ever Test score at home and their third-lowest in the format, a pitiful 46. Henry's fifth wicket came from Kuldeep Yadav, who played a back-of-a-length delivery away from the body, sending the ball off the outside edge to the left of the gully, ending his 17-ball fight.

In his 26th game, Henry reached the 100-wicket mark, making him the second-fastest bowler from New Zealand to reach the milestone. In the same number of test matches, left-arm bowler Neil Wagner also recorded 100 dismissals, with the great Richard Hadlee at the top of the list. Henry had the fourth-best numbers of any Kiwi in India, with 13.3-3-15-5. With a seven-for (7/64) at the same location in 2012, Tim Southee tops the list.

Matt Henry reaches a new milestone:

The bowler, who has been outstanding for New Zealand, earned the five wickets. Throughout his career, even when Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Neil Wagner were dominating their positions in the starting lineup, he was still needed. He has a five-for against India because he never gave up.

Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for a three-ball duck by the right-arm pacer's brilliant grab at wide mid-off, which was his maiden dismissal. Before and after lunch, he took the next two wickets from Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. In an innings that went horribly wrong, Rishabh Pant, India's top scorer, was dismissed by a wobble-seam delivery.

It was expected that India would strike some early strikes to hurt the Black Caps after being bowled out for 46. It was not to be, though, as Devon Conway set the pace and rock-solid Tom Latham got things going very nicely. The Kiwis are currently 67 for no loss, and Conway, who has yet to make an impact in the game, reached his tenth half-century with a beautiful strike down the ground off Ashwin's bowling.
