The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka is hosting the opening test between South Africa and Bangladesh. Following the conclusion of the second day, Bangladesh is under pressure. With seven wickets remaining in their second innings, they are behind by 101 runs. Mahmudul Hasan Joy has battled valiantly for his 80-ball 38*, while Mushfiqur Rahim is undefeated at 31 off 26.
Mushfiqur Rahim, a veteran batsman and wicketkeeper, recently made history by becoming the first cricketer from Bangladesh to reach 6000 Test runs. The momentous achievement occurred at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka during the last session of Day 2 of the current first Test match versus South Africa. In his 93rd Test match, the 37-year-old crossed the century milestone when he hit a boundary off the bowling of South African spinner Keshav Maharaj.
Mushfiqur Rahim creates history:
Bangladesh was behind 202 runs at the beginning of the second innings. For just four runs, they lost the opening two wickets. Monimul then scored 55 runs for the third wicket with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (23 off 49). However, Bangladesh's captain was dismissed after failing to bat for too long. Mushfiqur Rahim came to the crease as a result, and he played a fantastic, undefeated cameo, attacking the South African bowlers. At a strike rate of 119.23, Rahim scored 31* off 26 balls.
On Day 2, the fourth wicket partnership is 42* off 50 by stumps. Rahim hit a significant milestone on the second day of his time at the crease. Mushfiqur Rahim became the first batter from Bangladesh to surpass 6,000 test runs. As of his 93rd test, Rahim has amassed 6003 runs at an average of 38.48. In his test career thus far, the right-hander has amassed 11 hundreds and 27 fifties.
Rahim became the first player in the country to achieve this remarkable milestone, and Bangladesh Cricket congratulated him on social media.
