South African pacer Morne Morkel, joined the team for the first time after being named the Indian team's bowling coach. India will play Bangladesh in the first Test match of the two at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, six days after he joined the team. During a recent conversation, Morkel shared his favourite Indian meals. The 39-year-old, who works as a support staff, also emphasized the value of maintaining a balanced diet.

In a video that the Board of Control for Cricket in India uploaded on their social media accounts, Morkel stated, "I enjoy some poori. I definitely love dosas and murgh malai chicken during breakfast. It is also important as a coach to show that you eat healthy, and the rest of the players will follow." In the same video, Morkel also described what happened after he was informed that he would be taking over as bowling coach for the Indian team.

Pacer Morne Morkel in a candid chat:

Morkel continued, "I thought about it for five minutes while sitting in the room. I didn't go to my wife after talking to my dad first. They usually tell you to go talk to your wife, but I went to talk to my dad. As a longtime cricket enthusiast, learning what would happen next was quite amazing. I spent approximately five to seven minutes enjoying it by myself before sharing it with my family."

On August 14, 2024, Morkel was appointed as the bowling coach. While with the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL, he had previously collaborated with Indian national head coach Gautam Gambhir. He did the same job with Pakistan as well, but he quit six weeks before his contract was set to expire.
