The T20 World Cup 2026 is quickly approaching; India and Sri Lanka will host the prestigious competition, which is scheduled to start on February 7. Ian Harvey, a former Australian cricket player, will be joining Nepal Cricket as a bowling consultant coach ahead of the 2019 season. He will collaborate closely with fellow Australian Stuart Law, who is now Nepal's head coach.
Harvey, is former Gloucestershire coach, takes over the position. He is currently 53 years old, has extensive coaching and playing experience. As a member of the Australian team that won the 2003 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Harvey established himself as a reliable all-rounder with a reputation for tactical knowledge and flexibility. His power-hitting skills gave the batting order depth, and his bowling was characterized by deft variations like as yorkers and a variety of slower deliveries.
Interestingly, Nepal has been assigned to Group C in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The team will compete against nations including the West Indies, Bangladesh, England, and Italy. Bangladesh may struggle in the competition due to a challenging group, and it will be intriguing to watch how the team performs. Notably, Bangladesh's T20 World Cup campaign will begin with a match against England. On February 8, the two teams will square off at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. As the World Cup gets off, Nepal will face a formidable opponent in England.
Nepal participated in four games during the 2024 T20 World Cup, and although they did not win, they put on strong displays against Bangladesh and South Africa, drawing both teams close.
