As Jacob Duffy was about to throw the ball while bowling to Tayyab Tahir during the third ODI of the series between New Zealand and Pakistan at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, a strange thing occurred: the floodlights went out. Both the players and the spectators were caught off guard by the sudden halt in play caused by the unique event.

The lights at the arena abruptly went out as Tahir was batting against Jacob Duffy in the 39th over, with the visitors requiring 47 off 21 deliveries. The moment was alarming since Duffy was ready to deliver the ball, which could have seriously injured the batter from an uncontrollable mishap that would have left him playing blind. As soon as they noticed the unusual occurrence, fans shared a video of it on social media.

NZ vs PAK 2025 Shocking Mishap:

While attempting to chase down another tough total set by the BlackCaps, Pakistan once again suffered a disappointing defeat in the third ODI between the two teams. Some batters, such as Tayyab Tahir, who started with 33 off 31 deliveries, attempted to rally the team, but they were unable to get the team over the finish line.

New Zealand, led by Ben Sears, won the third and final one-day international by 43 runs on Saturday, convincingly sweeping the ODI series 3-0 and exposing Pakistan's fragile batting once more. The match was cut short to 42 overs due to a delayed start at Mount Maunganui, and the tourists were dismissed for 221 from 40 overs in response to New Zealand's 264-8. The hosts won the first game in Napier by 73 runs, and then they won in Hamilton by 84 runs, as was the trend of the first two games.

With a 2-0 series lead, the home team went into the third game determined to sweep the opposition, and they succeeded admirably. The game, which was cut short to 42 overs because of the weather, was won by the Kiwis by 43 runs. The side reached 264-8 in the first innings of the rain-shortened match, thanks to a vital half-century from captain Michael Bracewell, who was named Player of the Match. The Men in Green ultimately lost the game and the series after being bundled out for just 221.
