After the Mohammad Rizwan-led team lost the third and final ODI against New Zealand on Saturday at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, Khushdil Shah, an all-rounder for Pakistan, lost his temper and rushed at some supporters. What caused Khushdil to rush violently at a group of supporters is unknown.
The incident happened shortly after Pakistan lost by 43 runs. The hosts had just finished a 4-1 loss in the previous T20I leg and a 3-0 thumping in the ODI series. As the players were leaving the field, some fans reportedly made disparaging remarks to them, according to witnesses. Unable to control his feelings, Khushdil turned around and faced the onlookers. He persisted in his rejoinder in spite of the attempts of other players and security personnel.

The 30-year-old eventually lost his temper and began hitting spectators. Before the situation worsened, Khushdil was swiftly removed by the other support staff members. In an official statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) claimed that the players were subjected to derogatory comments by foreign spectators. The statement claims that after hearing anti-Pakistan shouts, Khushdil decided to take matters into his own hands.
PCB said, "The Pakistan cricket team management has strongly condemned the abusive language directed at national players by foreign spectators. During the match today, foreign spectators hurled inappropriate remarks at cricketers present on the field."
Notably, Khushdil has experienced disciplinary issues during the trip before. When he ran toward New Zealand spinner Zac Foulkes while taking a single in the ninth over during the T20I series, he was given three demerit points and fined half of his match money.
In the meantime, the hosts scored 264 thanks to Michael Bracewell's spectacular 59 and Rhys Mariu's 50 in the third ODI, which was postponed due to weather and was just 42 overs each side. Babar Azam top-scored Pakistan's chase with 50 off 58, but Ben Sears' outstanding 5 for 34 saw the visitors bowled out for 221.
Imam-ul-Haq, the opener for Pakistan, suffered a bizarre injury early in the innings when a throw deflected into his jaw, forcing him to be stretchered off. The middle order attempted to form alliances, but none of them could withstand the Kiwi attack for very long.
