Mitchell Owen to fill in big shoes:
The Paarl Royals' perfect run at home this season was largely due to his many wise strokes and tight bowling sessions. The English hitter displayed his true class by taming the slow and strongly favoured spinners at the top of the Paarl decks with excellent technique. After his fantastic performances in the just-finished large Bash League (BBL) 2024–25, Owen will be entering the Royals dressing room with confidence, despite the fact that he has large shoes to fill.
After the 23-year-old helped the Hobart Hurricanes win the BBL championship for the first time, he became well-known. With 452 runs from 11 games at an average of 45.20 and a strike rate of 203.60, Owen was the top run scorer at the end. In the final against the Sydney Thunder, the youthful player easily defeated a 183-run target by smashing a century off just 39 balls.
As anticipated, Owen's valiant actions helped him capture the attention of franchises worldwide. In their quest for their first SA20 championship, the Royals may wish to capitalize on his outstanding form. Mitchell Owen's recent BBL 2024–25 performances, in which he was the top run scorer, were the primary factor in the decision to replace Joe Root. Over the course of 11 innings, he amassed 452 runs at an average of 45.20 and a strike rate of 203.60, including two hundreds.
