Sheldon Jackson, one of the best players to ever come out of Saurashtra, has scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket. After playing his farewell match against Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy Quarter-Finals, Jackson, who had already announced his retirement from white-ball cricket, has now confirmed his retirement from first-class cricket.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024–25, he played for Saurashtra, which advanced to the tournament's quarterfinals. Regretfully, Jackson's more than 15-year career ended when the squad lost to Gujarat in the playoffs. In his most recent Ranji match, he scored 14 and 27 runs in both innings.

Sheldon Jackson Bids Farewell:

Born in Bhavnagar, 38-year-old Sheldon Jackson was one of the best players in the Ranji Trophy and also a wicketkeeper. In the current Ranji Trophy quarterfinals, the right-hander, whose career started in 2011, played his farewell game. Jackson has played in 106 domestic red-ball matches during his first-class career, scoring 7,283 runs at an average of 45.80.

With a top score of 186 and almost 7200 runs in 105 first-class games, he retired. Over the course of his remarkable domestic career, he amassed 21 centuries and 39 half-centuries. The fact that he ended his career with an average of more than 45 might be used to measure his consistency. Jackson has contributed by wearing many headgear in addition to his bat. In the limited-over tournaments, he also held wickets for Saurashtra.

For those who don't know, Jackson played in nine games for the Kolkata Knight Riders across the 2017 and 2022 seasons of IPL. As Saurashtra advanced to the prestigious tournament's grand finale for the first time, the right-hander had a breakthrough season in the 2012–2013 Ranji Trophy, smashing four half-centuries and two hundreds, including consecutive tons in the quarter-finals and semifinals against the formidable Karnataka and Punjab teams, respectively.
