If the two teams faced off in the semifinals of the current second season of World Championship of Legends in Birmingham, India, champion Shikhar Dhawan was candid about whether he would play against the Pakistani champions. Dhawan's remarks were made precisely one week after India withdrew from their league match against Pakistan, forcing the organisers to call off the match.
A reporter questioned Shikhar Dhawan on the tournament's sidelines about whether he would play against Pakistan if both sides advanced to the tournament's final stages. The former India opener informed the reporter that he shouldn't be asking the question because he was clearly upset about it. According to Dhawan, his position has not changed.
Shikhar Dhawan Gets Candid:
Jo kadam 11 May ko liya, uspe aaj bhi waise hi khada hoon. Mera desh mere liye sab kuch hai, aur desh se badhkar kuch nahi hota.

The highly anticipated match between the India and Pakistan champions was scheduled to take place at Edgbaston last Sunday. The final from the previous season, in which India triumphed to win the first WCL title, was also repeated. However, several players withdrew from the game, citing the geopolitical situation between the two countries following this year's April 22 terror assault in Pahalgam.
Dhawan said, "Brother, you're asking this question at the wrong place right now. If you're asking that, do you think I’m going to answer? You shouldn't be asking this question. And if I haven’t played earlier, then I still won’t play."
Currently, unless India wins their final two games—against England and the West Indies—they have a lower chance of facing Pakistan in the knockout stages. With two losses from three games and no wins this season, the reigning champions are sitting at the bottom of the table. After a hat-trick of victories, Pakistan is now in second place. Australia will be their opponent in their last match. India, however, has lost two of their first three games and is currently wallowing at the bottom of the standings. On July 27 and July 29, respectively, the reigning champions will play England and the West Indies.
