In the ODI series against New Zealand, batsman Shreyas Iyer of the Indian Cricket Team will return to the national team. On January 11, the three-match series will start in Vadodara. Shreyas Iyer, the star batter and vice captain of Team India, almost avoided being attacked by a dog at the airport.

The incident happened when Shreyas was chatting with a fan who was holding her pet, which attacked and attempted to bite his hand while the Indian star batter made an effort to be amiable with the animal. The event was captured on camera, and the footage is making the rounds on social media. Watch the viral video below.

Shreyas Iyer Escapes Dog Bite Video:

The woman approached Shreyas Iyer with the dog while he was signing autographs for a young fan at the airport, according to the widely shared video. Shreyas Iyer attempted to use his hand to spoil the puppy. The dog suddenly sprang at him, attempting to bite him. Shreyas Iyer, however, was able to save himself from the dog because of his fast reactions and timely removal of his hand. The dog was either a white Indian Spitz or a breed of Spitz. When Shreyas attempted to touch the dog, it became hostile. The video concludes when Shreyas and the security depart the airport after the woman goes away with the dog.

For the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, Shreyas Iyer is expected to return to the Indian squad. The series is scheduled to start on January 11 at Vadodara's BCA Stadium. Iyer suffered a fatal injury while fielding in the third ODI in Sydney last year. Iyer was named the new ODI vice-captain before the Australia tour. He was disqualified from the campaign due to internal bleeding and spleen damage, and he also had surgery in Sydney.

He was unable to return to the field for over two months after the surgery. He was consequently disqualified from the ODI series against South Africa. In the final week of December, he arrived at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) for rehabilitation following his injury recovery.
