More than three weeks before the match is set for October 31, Cricket Australia (CA) declared on Monday that all public ticket allocations for the men's Twenty20 International match between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) have been used up.
In the past, public funds for the 12-day Ashes series between England and Australia were depleted. According to CA, the high level of interest in India's white-ball tour—which has now sold over 175,000 tickets for eight matches—is reflected in the unusual demand for the Melbourne T20I.

Additionally, CA stated that MCC member tickets would be available starting on Tuesday, while AFL member tickets for the MCG T20I match will go on sale on Monday. The Adelaide ODI and Gabba T20I are almost full, with less than 5,000 public tickets remaining for each, while the Sydney and Manuka Oval fixtures have already sold out. The ODI series opener at Perth Stadium on October 19 kicks off India's white-ball tour of Australia. Adelaide Oval and Sydney Cricket Ground will host matches on October 23 and 25, respectively.
When India last visited Australia for a bilateral ODI series, they lost 2-1, but they won the ensuing T20I series by the same score during the same tour. While Suryakumar Yadav will take over as captain for the T20I portion of the tour, India's ODI team will be captained by recently hired Shubman Gill, with veteran players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also included in the squad.
