On the first day of the first Test match of the tour to Bangladesh, South African fast-bowling sensation Kagiso Rabada was in outstanding form, claiming three wickets as the Proteas bowled their hosts out for 106 runs in Mirpur. As a result, Rabada joined fellow South Africans Dale Steyn, Shaun Pollock, Makhaya Ntini, Allan Donald, and Morne Morkel as the sixth player to reach the 300-wicket milestone. Ravindra Jadeja just achieved the 300-wicket mark, making him one of only six bowlers currently in play to do so.

Two other South African pacers, Alan Donald and Daled Steyn, are listed among the top four bowlers. They both took 300 wickets in 12605 and 13672 balls. Mushfiqur Raheem of Bangladesh was completely destroyed by Rabada, who took his 300th Test wicket. In terms of matches played, he became the third-fastest South African to attain the milestone.

Fastest Bowlers with fewer balls to 300 wickets in Tests:

11817 - Kagiso Rabada (SA)*

12602 - Waqar Younis (PAK)

12605 - Dale Steyn (SA)

13672 - Allan Donald (SA)

Rabada's mention of this monument also set a record in Mirpur. Remarkably, Kagiso Rabada needed the fewest deliveries to reach the 300-wicket milestone out of the 39 bowlers who have achieved that feat. Rabada, a bowler with one of the highest strike rates in Test cricket history, reached the milestone in just 11817 deliveries. In terms of balls bowled, he now surpasses Waqar Younis as the player who did it the quickest.

At Dhaka's Shere Bangla National Stadium, the 29-year-old is presently participating in the first Test match against Bangladesh. In addition, he became the third-quickest bowler on the elite list and the sixth South African to reach the 300-wicket milestone. Of the 38 bowlers who have taken more than 300 wickets, his strike rate of 39.3 is the highest. Dale Steyn, the former South Africa speed prodigy, comes in second at 42.3.
