During the Duleep Trophy 2024, teammates Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav of the Delhi Capitals, representing India B and India A, shared a hilarious encounter over the stump mic.
As India A needed to win by 131 runs with just three wickets remaining and Kuldeep being the only identifiable bowler who had shown batting prowess, the wrist-spinner stroked a ball from Sai Kishore to the empty midwicket fence. A furious exchange between the wicketkeeper and the spinner delayed the very next delivery, which was the last ball of the over.

In order to safeguard Akash Deep from the bowlers of India B, who were eager to wrap things up quickly, Pant advised the fielders on and outside the thirty-yard circle to take a few more steps to inhibit the single that he thought Kuldeep would take. In response to Pant's assertion, Kuldeep implied that it wasn't necessary to take the field by saying he wouldn't take a single. Quickly following suit, Pant asked Kuldeep to make a vow to his mother that he would not accept the single.
"Sab upar rehna single ke liye saare (everyone come up close to prevent the single from being taken)," notified Pant. Kuldeep answered, "Mai nahi lunga (I won't take the single)." "Kha le maa kasam nahi lega (swear on your mother that you won't take it)," responded Pant.
As teammates at DC, Pant and Kuldeep have contributed to eight dismissals from the latter's bowling in the 24 games the former has played as a wicketkeeper. Meanwhile, Kuldeep and Pant have combined for seven dismissals for India, with three more games than the previous total in which Pant appeared in the wicketkeeping role.
