The last stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 group stage is underway, running from February 7 to March 8. Among the seven teams that have already qualified for the next round is India, which has guaranteed a spot in the Super Eight. With comfortable wins over Namibia, Pakistan, and the United States of America, the Men in Blue secured their spot.

Zimbabwe, the West Indies, and South Africa, the runners-up from the previous season, have been paired with the reigning champions. On February 22, India will play South Africa in Ahmedabad. On February 26, they will travel to Chennai to play Zimbabwe. On March 1, they will play the West Indies in Kolkata to round up their Super 8 campaign.

Twenty teams are competing for world dominance in the main event, which is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. India came into the tournament as the reigning champions, having won the trophy in 2024 after defeating South Africa in the final that was played in the USA and the West Indies. India would become the first side in history to win the T20 World Cup three times if they win this edition.

India scored 161/9 in 20 overs to start their campaign against the USA. After the squad quickly lost six wickets, captain Suryakumar Yadav anchored the batting with a vital unbeaten 84 off 49 balls. With numbers of 4/25, Shadley van Schalkwyk made an impression, but India's bowlers rallied and held the USA to 132. With 3/29, Mohammed Siraj spearheaded the assault.

After defeating the USA, Namibia, and Pakistan, the Indian team, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, will be aiming for a fourth straight victory. The Netherlands' chances of making it to the Super 8 are all but gone after their defeats to Pakistan and the USA. All that Scott Edwards' team has accomplished is a victory over Namibia.
