With a five-match Test series against India and a one-off Test against Zimbabwe among the series to look forward to, the England side will have a full schedule during the forthcoming home Test season. The Three Lions, who have struggled in Test cricket for the past two seasons, will also face a significant test in this match.
Ahead of a home summer season that includes a highly anticipated five-Test series against India, England is allegedly considering hiring former New Zealand bowler Tim Southee as its fast-bowling consultant. The 36-year-old is in the running to succeed seasoned pacer James Anderson, who assumed the position following his retirement from Test cricket last year but is unable to play this summer because of his county team, Lancashire, obligations. With 391 Test wickets, second only to Sir Richard Hadlee's 431, Southee had ended his red-ball career in December.

The first WTC champion and recently retired New Zealand icon, Tim Southee, is reportedly one of the people the board appears to be interested in. One of the things that can make the ECB favour the 36-year-old pacer is the fact that he has been close pals with current England head coach Brendon McCullum.
Along with McCullum and spin bowling consultant/assistant coach Jeetan Patel, Southee may become the third Kiwi member of the coaching staff and management if this move is successful. He might start for the English team as early as the series against India.
The BBC claims that he and England head coach Brendon McCullum get along well. In addition to McCullum, England's coaching team includes Jeetan Patel, a former spinner for New Zealand who is now the spin bowling coach. Next month, England will play a one-off Test match against Zimbabwe to begin the summer. They will then play a white-ball series against the West Indies before hosting India for a five-match Test series beginning on June 20.
