Bangladesh started strongly after being put in to bat first, as openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim (59 off 33 balls) and Litton Das (40 off 32) combined for a 90-run partnership in just 55 balls. Jaker Ali's fast 18 off six and Towhid Hridoy's 24-ball 45 then gave Bangladesh a vital late burst, enabling them to total 205-5.

The hosts responded by getting off to a fast start and scoring 68 runs during the powerplay. Muhammad Zohaib, his opening partner, and captain Muhammad Waseem quickly reached 38 off 34 balls and 107 in 61 balls. UAE was at 148-3 in 14.5 overs as No. 3 Rahul Chopra was removed cheaply, and Waseem ultimately fell for a 42-ball 82.Β The hosts took control when Waseem and Muhammad Zohaib (38) put up a 107-run opening combination.

But there was a mini-collapse on the home side as Waseem dropped in the fifteenth over. The UAE lower-order remained composed with 58 runs needed, with each batsman scoring vital runs. Dhruv Parashar got off to a fast start, hitting a six off Tanzim Hasan's full toss, and needed 12 off the final over.

A no-ball and a dangerous double between Haider Ali and Matiullah Khan sealed the victory, even though Parashar was out on the next ball. Haider took the team over the finish line with the winning runs on the penultimate delivery thanks to Towhid Hridoy's delayed throw.

This was the UAE's first-ever victory over Bangladesh in any format and their first-ever chase of 200 or more in Twenty20 Internationals. Additionally, it broke the previous record set by the Netherlands (183–4 against Ireland in 2019) and became the most successful chase by an Associate Nation against a Full Member in T20I history. Furthermore, after Scotland's 213-6 victory against Ireland in 2023, the UAE's innings became just the second time an associate side scored 200 or more in a Twenty20 International match against a Full Member.Β The final match is scheduled for May 21, and the three-match series is knotted 1-1.
