The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a humorous video in which KL Rahul was asked to identify the most well-known individual on his contact list. Without hesitation, the Karnataka batsman named Virat Kohli, his former captain and India colleague.

Currently in Australia, Rahul and Kohli are preparing for the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. In an effort to reduce tension before the fierce match between the two dominant teams in world cricket, the BCCI's social media team gathered a few players from the team for an entertaining Q&A session.

"Virat Kohli," the Indian batter's prompt reply, made both teammates and supporters laugh and smile. Given Kohli's immense prominence in international cricket, this news was hardly shocking. In addition to being one of the best cricket players of our time, the former Indian captain is a cultural icon whose impact goes beyond the game.

KL Rahul goes viral:

Rahul's open response also demonstrated how close he is to Kohli. Years of playing together and encouraging one another both on and off the field have forged this connection. A humorous photo shoot that the BCCI posted on social media further demonstrated the team's togetherness.

The connection between Rahul and Virat Kohli has a long history. At Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2013, the two elite cricket players shared a changing room. Even when he was in bad form, Kohli would always support the wicketkeeper-batter while he was captain of the Indian squad. This was due to the Delhi batter's belief in Rahul's ability rather than their strong friendship.

Mohammed Siraj asked Kohli to name his favourite knock on Australian soil during the same Q&A session. In the 2018–19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the 36-year-old scored his captivating century in the Perth Test match. While his fellow batsmen were unable to bear the pressure from the raging Australian bowlers, Kohli remained steadfast. Despite India's 146-run defeat, Kohli received a lot of credit for his tough performance.
