When Brian Bennett made a spectacular catch to eliminate West Indies skipper Shai Hope during their Group 1 Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium, Sikandar Raza was ecstatic. After the Chevrons eliminated both Windies openers, the Zimbabwe captain was clearly excited and joyfully rejoicing.
When Brad Evans outwitted Hope with a deft change of tempo, the breakthrough occurred. Evans hit a slower ball on a hard length across middle and off, rolling his fingers across the seam. Hope tried to slug it past the line, but it swung a little too early and was unable to produce power or time. Bennett had a lot of work ahead of him as the ball shot toward deep mid-wicket.
Brian Bennett Goes Viral:

Brad Evans denied Hope the width and pace he needed on the last over of the Powerplay by driving the ball into the surface. As Shai Hope attempted to crawl past the line, Evans slid his fingers over another slower delivery, but he was unable to cleanly grasp it. Brian Bennett, running hard to his left, pouched it just inches above the turf and threw himself forward in a full-length dive. It was noteworthy because it was Bennett's second diving attempt of the competition.
Both Zimbabwe and the West Indies were aware that a win would put more pressure on the co-hosts, given South Africa and India are also in Group 1 (the Proteas crushed India by 76 runs in Ahmedabad). After shocking Australia and Sri Lanka in the league stage and winning Group B, Zimbabwe went into the Super 8s on a high note. They qualified for the second round of the T20 World Cup for the first time. Romario Shepherd replaced Roston Chase as the only change made by the West Indies, who won Group C. Wellington Masakadza was replaced by Richard Ngarava in Zimbabwe.
