Due to visa difficulties, USA wicketkeeper-batter Shayan Jahangir will miss the first One-Day International (ODI) of the tri-nation series against Namibia. The series between the USA and hosts Oman is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 8, with the USA playing Namibia at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turd 1).

Jahangir's arrival is uncertain ahead of the USA's second ODI against Oman on February 12 at the same venue. The series between hosts Oman is scheduled to begin on February 8, and it is unclear if he will arrive in time for the match. Due to the lengthy process of issuing Indian visas to Pakistani nationals, the hastily chosen camp location essentially compelled him to leave the travelling party for India.

Big Blow of Shayan Jahangir:

Because of his Pakistani nationality, Jahangir was unable to attend the USA's tri-series preparation camp in India. He was essentially compelled to leave the touring contingent to India because the location of the camp was determined at short notice. This is due to the fact that granting Indian visas to Pakistani people typically takes a significant period of time. It is unclear whether there was an administrative error in his visa application since Pakistani people have never had any problems getting one for Oman over the years.

It is unknown whether there was an administrative error in Shayan Jahangir's visa application, although he has no history of problems getting one from Oman. Shayan recently solidified his position as the opener with a resounding hundred against Nepal in October of last year, thus the visa issue has arrived at the worst possible time. By the way, this was the final ODI assignment for the USA. Smit Patel is expected to take Shayan's place as a wicketkeeper, however, Andries Gous is also a possibility.

A USA Cricket spokesperson revealed, "Shayan is an important part of our team, and we absolutely want him in Oman with the team. Unfortunately, due to an administrative issue with his visa for entry, through no fault of his own, Shayan was not able to travel with the squad and will not be able to compete at the upcoming ICC CWC League 2 fixtures. We're disappointed and will work to understand why this unfortunate decision has been made."
