Wach: Cricketer Rinku Singh gets Engaged to Politician MP Priya Saroj in Private Ceremony

In Lucknow on Sunday, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj formally became engaged. Rinku Singh has scored 153.73 in 30 Twenty20 Internationals for India.

On June 8, at the Centrum Hotel in Lucknow, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Member of Parliament Priya Saroj were engaged in a private ceremony. Close relatives, friends, and prominent figures from the cricket and political spheres attended the occasion. Before the event, the left-handed batter and his family visited Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh's Chaudhera Wali Vichitra Devi Temple to seek blessings. Several high-profile guests attended the engagement, which took place at Fulcurn Hall, which can accommodate 300 people.

Social media has seen some stunning images and videos of Priya and Rinku showing off their engagement rings. Due to cricketing obligations, Rinku, who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL and the Indian cricket team in the T20I format, was unable to attend the ceremony with many of his international teammates.

Aryan Juyal, captain of the Uttar Pradesh Ranji squad, and several former cricket players, including Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla, graced the event. Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, as well as MPs Jaya Bachchan, Dimple Yadav, and Iqra Hasan, were among the political guests. Rajeev Shukla, a Congress leader, and Professor Ram Gopal Yadav, a senior Samajwadi Party official, both made an appearance.

A specially prepared vegetarian dinner influenced by Lucknowi cuisine that combined local and international flavours was served at the engagement feast. The menu was chosen by the couple themselves. The Centrum provided guest accommodations, with 15 rooms reserved specifically for the occasion. Only invitees with barcoded admission passes were allowed entry, and security was strictly enforced.

Tufani Saroj, Priya's father, had made it apparent a few months prior that the two were in a relationship. Speaking to ANI, Tufani, a current Samajwadi Party MLA, stated that Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj both asked their parents for approval. Additionally, he affirmed that only preliminary discussions have been had and that the engagement has not yet occurred.

He said, "Both the children have expressed their desire to get married and have sought our permission for the same. The engagement has not taken place yet. Initial talks have taken place in this regard."
