In the most recent International Masters League (IML 2025) final, Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar made history with his famous uppercut shot. Reminiscent of his iconic uppercut six against Shoaib Akhtar in the 2003 World Cup, the legendary batter led the India Masters against the West Indies Masters in Raipur, showcasing his hallmark smashes.ย

In the last over of the powerplay, Sachin Tendulkar batted against Jerome Taylor and struck the quick bowler for consecutive fours and sixes. The six in the very next ball reminded the fans on social media of his amazing strike againstย Shoaib Akhtar from the 2003 World Cup, even though the boundary was a touch of class.ย His famous stroke off Shoaib Akhtar at Centurion during the 2003 World Cup was much the same as this one. Despite his final dismissal for 25 off 18 balls, his short innings gave the chase a strong start.

Nostalgia at IML 2025 Final:

India needed to win by 274 runs in that match at Centurion. The second over of the chase, which was bowled by Akhtar, was where India Opener Sachin got his team off to a great start. Sachin lofted a short, wide ball that was bowled at 151 kmph over the third-man area for a powerful six. He blasted the next two balls for boundaries. Following Sachin reached 98, Akhtar removed him from the game, but following Sachin's devastating six, Pakistan was unable to rally.

India Masters easily defeated West Indies Masters by six wickets in the thrilling final of the first IML tournament. India chased down the goal in 17.1 overs after limiting the Caribbean team to 148/7. Ambati Rayudu won Player of the Match after being the standout player with a game-winning 74 from 50 balls.

The West Indies lost the match as Rayudu hit nine boundaries and three sixes. Stuart Binny's undefeated 16 off 9 balls won the victory, but the Caribbean team had some hope after his departure in the 15th over.
