At a media event before the fourth Test of the current Australia-India series, the Australian team was asked to provide their opinions on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and Indian cricket. Steve Smith, the star hitter, received the most attention for his polite and witty comments.

Indian cricket has advanced significantly over the past 20 years, outperforming the Australians and other elite countries in every way. The growth of Indian cricket has been greatly aided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI has also provided the cricket world with a premier franchise-based T20 league, the Indian Premier League (IPL). As a result, Australian cricket players only had positive things to say when questioned about their opinions of the India board.

Steve Smith and Travis Head's witty response:

Pat Cummins: “Big, Big, Big”

Travis Head: “Rulers, Second, Strong”

Usman Khawaja: “Strong, ICC, Talented”

Nathan Lyon: “Big, Boss, Passionate”

Glenn Maxwell: “Powerful, Boss, Fanatic”

Alex Carey: “Powerful, Trophy, Powerful”

Steve Smith: “Powerhouse, Leaders, Passionate”.

Perhaps the most interesting answers came from people like Head and Smith. Smith later changed his reaction, referring to the first one as "a joke," but Head remained firm in his decision.

The BCCI has grown into a major administrative and financial force in world cricket during the past 20 years. The BCCI has been at the vanguard of the sporting revolution, from launching the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has transformed franchise-based T20 cricket, to organizing major international competitions. Even the Australian players, who come from a country with a long history of cricket, were forced to admit the BCCI's supremacy as a result.

Former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is 35 years old, just assumed the job of ICC chairman, making him the youngest person to do so. Shah, who succeeded Greg Barclay, was appointed in response to India's administrative supremacy in cricket. He now joins a select group of Indian leaders who have headed the ICC in the past, including Sharad Pawar and N Srinivasan.
