At the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, before India's second Test match against New Zealand, star batsman Virat Kohli stopped by to sign autographs for a few of his young fans. The 35-year-old made two of his ardent fans happy by signing bats for them. The child was heard discussing his affection for the renowned batter in the uploaded footage.
The hosts, however, are trying to recover from their loss in the first Test match at Bengaluru. After losing to New Zealand by eight wickets in the first Test match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, India finds itself in a difficult situation. With 68.06% of the points in the 2023–2025 cycle, India continues to lead the World Test Championship (WTC) points table in spite of this defeat.

Without depending on other outcomes, the team captained by Rohit Sharma needs to win five of their final seven games to guarantee a place in the WTC final. After two more Test matches against New Zealand, the team will go to Australia for a five-match Test series. In his recent commentary on Kohli's performance, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel emphasized the significance of his time at the crease during the Bengaluru Test.
Talking to Colors Cineplex, Patel says, "It was extremely necessary for Virat Kohli to spend time in the middle. You said it correctly, he had not played Test cricket for a long time. He didn't play in the England series and didn't get that much opportunity against Bangladesh. There is no doubt that he is a very big player. However, no matter how big a player you might be, you need to play matches to get your rhythm."
