WBBL 2025 Draft: Jemimah Rodrigues Retained by Brisbane Heat, Chamari and Knight Join Sydney Thunder

Leading a list of 23 foreign players selected by the eight teams on Thursday in Melbourne, Indian batting star Jemimah Rodrigues was retained by the Brisbane Heat in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) Draft. Along with fellow international players Chinelle Henry and Nadine de Klerk, Rodrigues, a Brisbane fan favourite, will rejoin the Heat, bolstering the team's batting and all-around options for WBBL-10.

The sole Indian player selected was middle-order batswoman Jemimah Rodrigues, who was kept by the Brisbane Heat. Meanwhile, twelve English, five South African, two Kiwis and Windies apiece, and one Sri Lankan player were recruited. Along with England's Heather Knight, the draft also saw South African pacer Shabnim Ismail and Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu join the Sydney Thunder. The Sydney Sixers added Mady Villiers and Sophia Dunkley from England to their roster, along with Amelia Kerr, an all-rounder from New Zealand.
