Vidarbha's left-handed Yash Rathod, who hails from Nagpur, has been making waves in the Indian domestic scene for a while now. Since making his first appearance in the First Class in early 2023, Rathod has only gotten better. His averages are 50.66 and 47.72 in the 20 red-ball and 24 List A matches he has played so far.
In the ongoing Duleep Trophy final versus South Zone in Bengaluru on September 13, Central Zone batsman Yash Rathod came within a hair's breadth of achieving his first double century. After a career-high 194 runs in an innings that saw his team surpass 500 runs and almost take control of the game, the 25-year-old right-hander was removed. However, who exactly is Yash Rathod?

At the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground, the southpaw played a few traditional strokes. Additionally, he participated in 167-run and 176-run partnerships with captain Rajat Patidar and all-rounder Saransh Jain for the fourth and sixth wickets, respectively. Rathod hit two sixes and 17 fours in his opulent innings. Gurjapneet Singh's peach-sized delivery was necessary to get rid of him.
During the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season, when Vidarbha won the trophy, Rathod had a breakthrough season with the bat. With three fifties and five tons to his name, he amassed an incredible 960 runs in 18 innings, making him the top run scorer in the major red-ball competition. During Vidarbha's incredible season, he was the team's favourite crisis man due to his dynamic ability to bat at any position.
Rathod continued to play well in the Duleep Trophy 2025. He made 87 and 78* against the North East Zone in the quarterfinals. He kept his best for the final, though, after stumbling against West Zone in the semifinals. He formed important partnerships when batting at number five, scoring 167 runs with captain Rajat Patidar (101) and another 176 runs with Saransh Jain (69). Despite missing a double century when he was bowled by Gurjapneet Singh in the second session of Day 3, his 194 off 286 balls (17 fours, 2 sixes) was hailed as one of the season's best efforts.
