Days before their debut game of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, on September 29, Sarwar Imran, the head coach of the Bangladesh women's team, suffered a mild stroke in Colombo. Thankfully, the seasoned coach is currently stable, recuperating at the team hotel, and is optimistic about returning to the team's training.

According to ESPN, team manager SM Golam Faiyaz affirmed that Imran is currently stable. Imran is currently recuperating at the team hotel after being released from the hospital on Tuesday. Although he was excited to attend the training on Tuesday, the management requested that he take it easy. On Wednesday, he wants to return to the field with the team.

Head Coach Sarwar Imran Suffers Health Scare:

It is noteworthy that earlier this year, Imran succeeded former Sri Lanka captain Hashan Tillakaratne as head coach of the women's team. The 66-year-old, who coached the men's squad in Bangladesh's first-ever Test match in 2000, is a well-respected figure in Bangladeshi cricket. As they prepare for their tournament debut against Pakistan on October 2 at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Bangladesh is presently in Colombo.

The 66-year-old is regarded as one of the most esteemed individuals in Bangladeshi cricket. He replaced former Sri Lanka captain Hashan Tillakaratne as the women's head coach earlier this year. Bangladesh qualified for this World Cup under his leadership, marking their second appearance at the international competition after their 2022 debut. When the men's team played their first Test match against India in 2000, Imran was their coach.

On Thursday, October 2, Team Bangladesh will play its first World Cup 2025 match against Pakistan in Colombo. All of their remaining games will therefore be played in India. England on October 7, New Zealand on October 10, South Africa on October 13, Australia on October 16, Sri Lanka on October 20, and India in the last group stage encounter on October 26 are all on their itinerary.
