On Day 1 of the World Test Championship 2025 Final (WTC) at Lord's Cricket Ground in London, South Africa took control of the first session of the one-off match, dismissing Australian batsman Travis Head just before lunch.
Head and Steve Smith were at the crease when Marco Jansen produced a longer ball angling down the leg side in the twenty-fourth over. Head remained in his crease and tried to flick, but all he got was a slight tickle. Quickly responding, wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne dived to his right to finish a spectacular one-handed catch. The Proteas had a dominant session after Travis Head was fired, which led to the lunch break.
When Australian batsman Travis Head was dismissed by South Africa at Lord's in the 2025 World Test Championship Final, social media was ablaze with a mixture of nostalgia and sarcasm. Soon after Head was fired, the term "No Rohit Sharma, No Party" went viral on websites like X, highlighting the unexpected internet bullying of Indian celebrity Rohit Sharma.

Head was seen as one of the main threats in Australia's lineup this time around after tormenting the Indian side in the 2023 WTC Final with a match-winning century. However, a flurry of memes and jeering ensued after South Africa, with the help of Marco Jansen's incisive bowling, removed him for a low score early in the innings.
With a double blow, pacer Kagiso Rabada set the tone by dismissing Cameron Green (4) and Usman Khawaja (0) in the same over. South Africa took the lead early on as both batters edged fuller deliveries behind, with the ball travelling well to the slip.Β
After an unsuccessful first spell, Jansen came back to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne (17), who had attempted to stabilise the innings with Smith. By keeping pressure from one end, Wiaan Mulder assisted the primary pacers in bowling clean lines. Smith was undefeated at 26, and Australia was battling at 67/4 by lunchtime. The South African pacers made superb use of the circumstances, taking three full-length wickets in 46 deliveries while giving up 31 runs.
