Travis Head, the star opener for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will not play in Monday's Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) match. Notably, SRH wanted to end the rest of their season with a victory, even though they had already been eliminated from the tournament. Nevertheless, on May 19, they will play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Daniel Vettori, the head coach, gave an important update on Sunday. It remains to be seen if the left-handed Australian batsman will be available for the final two games after his arrival in India on Monday morning. Travis Head's arrival in India was delayed due to his COVID-19 infection, Vettori confirmed. When the southpaw tested positive for the virus, however, is unknown.

When the explosive Australian batter was infected is still unknown, though. As a precaution, his return to the country was postponed. Vettori stated at Sunday's pregame press conference that "Travis is coming in tomorrow morning; he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel. He’ll get in tomorrow morning, and we’ll assess how he is after that."
As of right now, SunRisers Hyderabad is ranked eighth. The team will play two more games after Monday's match against LSG at the Ekana: one on May 23 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and another on May 25 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Notably, on June 11 in England, Cummins will captain the Australian squad in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa. Because of this, there were rumours that the two might not go back and would rather get ready for the huge ICC (International Cricket Council) event.
On May 17, the IPL 2025 resumed following a one-week break. But before a single ball was bowled at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was called off owing to rain.
