Champions of the World Test at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, South Africa, defeated Zimbabwe by 328 runs in the opening Test match of their new red-ball campaign. Wiaan Mulder's contribution and Corbin Bosch's remarkable all-around effort were the highlights of the four-day contest, which saw the Proteas dominate from the start and take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

The visitors finished the match before tea on day four, knocking the hosts out for 208 after setting Zimbabwe a massive 537 to win. Bosch was outstanding with the ball, finishing with 5 for 43, while Codi Yusuf, making his debut, was impressive with 3 for 22. Dewald Brevis, a part-time leg-spinner, took the last wicket to give South Africa their largest-ever Test victory over Zimbabwe.

ZIM vs SA 2025 1st Test Day 4 Review:

South Africa maintained their dominance in their second innings. With strong assistance from captain Keshav Maharaj (51) and Bosch (36), Mulder scored 147 to enable the visitors reach 369 and set Zimbabwe a goal of 537.Β Early on Day 4, the Zimbabwean batting lineup disintegrated. Bosch achieved a hat-trick by taking wickets on the last ball of Day 3 and the first delivery of Day 4. Zimbabwe reached 82/6 after a middle-order collapse, despite efforts by Williams and Ervine to calm the innings. Ervine (49) and Masakadza (57) had a brief combination that frustrated the Proteas for a while, but the game shifted in favor of the visitors after Bosch broke through with a diving catch by Tony de Zorzi.

After achieving his first Test century on the first day, Bosch completed a historic all-round effort when Vincent Masekesa cut in four overs later to earn his first Test five-wicket haul. In Test cricket history, he was only the seventh South African to score a century and take five wickets in the same game.

Then Yusuf swept up the tail, quickly removing Tafadzwa Tsiga, Wessly Madhevere, and Prince Masvaure. Zimbabwe's biggest-ever Test defeat by runs was confirmed when Brevis took his first Test wicket and Verreynne stumped Tanaka Chivanga.
