South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch was suspended by the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for a year after he accepted a spot on the Peshawar Zalmi team in January 2025 but chose to play for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) claims that Bosch violated the conditions of his contract with Peshawar Zalmi, a PSL team. When the Zalmi team first selected Bosch in their January 2025 draft, Bosch decided to enter the IPL to replace Lizaad Williams, who was injured. When the PSL faced competition from the IPL this year, the PCB quickly instituted disciplinary measures, which sparked intense criticism.

Notably, prior to agreeing to a deal with the Mumbai Indians as an injured substitute for Lizaad Williams, Bosch had not obtained any no-objection certificates (NOCs) from his PSL team, Peshawar Zalmi. The all-rounder will, therefore, not be able to participate in the PSL 2026, as the Pakistani board has now banned him for a period of twelve months.

PCB's Strong Stance:

A legal notice regarding an agreement infringement resulting from Bosch's draught withdrawal was previously sent by the board. After the league punished him for his acts as a seasoned international league player, Bosch came forward to publicly apologize. After being banned from league tournaments that spread around the world, Bosch formally apologized to the supporters.

A statement from the board read, “The all-rounder will serve a one-year ban and will not be eligible for selection in next year’s Pakistan Super League.”

Bosch said, "I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi and the wider cricket community. The PSL is a prestigious tournament, and I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions. To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the PSL. This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans."
