The two-match Test series between Afghanistan (AFG) and Zimbabwe (ZIM) is scheduled to continue. On January 2, 2025, the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo will host the second Test match between the two teams. In a rain-shortened match, the first Test of the series concluded in a tie.

Zimbabwe got off to a fast start, beating their previous Test mark of 563/9 against the West Indies in 2001 with a record-breaking 586 in their opening innings. Zimbabwe's batting assault was too strong for Afghanistan's bowlers to handle, with AM Ghazanfar leading the charge at 3/127.

Zimbabwe fought to save the game at the end of the encounter. The hosts were reduced to 142/4 in their second innings and had to rely on the seasoned duo of Craig Ervine (22 not out) and Sean Williams (35 not out) to keep the sessions going. Rain was a major factor in halting play in the last session, which allowed Zimbabwe to tie.
