In a startling turn of events, actor Akshay Kumar, via his production company Cape of Good Films, has sent actor Paresh Rawal a legal notice demanding 25 crores in damages for acting in a terribly unprofessional manner and abandoning the film Hera Pheri 3 after entering into a contract and beginning production.

Last week, Paresh announced in the media that he was leaving the cult comedy. Although the cause was unclear, we do know that he did not "feel like" being in the movie. For millions of Hera Pheri lovers, this has caused waves of disappointment. Veteran director Priyadarshan supported Akshay Kumar's choice to seek legal action in an interview with Hindustan Times. He said, I don’t have anything to lose, but Akshay has invested money, and that could be the reason why he is taking this action. Paresh Rawal hasn’t spoken to me to date."

Hera Pheri 3 Delayed?

As per HT, a source close to the film said, “Paresh displayed a blatant disregard for professional integrity or commercial morality. If he did not want to do the film, he should have said so before signing the legal contract, accepting the signing amount and making the producer spend so much money on the shoot. It is high time Bollywood actors realise that, like Hollywood, producers here too will no longer give in to the whims of an actor walking in and out of a film as he pleases."

For his part, Paresh has a history of abruptly leaving movies. Because he didn't like the script, he declined to film Oh My God 2 in 2023. He is reported to have committed to Shah Rukh Khan's Billu Barber and then left it as early as 2009. By the way, Priyadarshan directed that movie as well.
