Big Addition! Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui Joins Tumbbad 2 in a Powerful Role

Tumbbad 2, Sohum Shah's much-awaited folk-horror follow-up, is scheduled to begin production later this year. After its superhit precursor, the movie has already created a lot of buzz. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has now formally joined the cast of Tumbbad 2, according to the producers. Sohum welcomed the actor on board in an Instagram post.

In the caption, the filmmaker wrote, "We are pleased to announce that one of the finest actors of our time, @nawazuddin._siddiqui has joined #Tumbbad2. Welcome, Nawaz bhai! :).” Although specifics regarding his character are being withheld, it is implied that he will play a crucial part in the mythological plot of the movie. Meanwhile, in a statement, Nawazuddin Siddiqui quoted, “Tumbbad has always been a film I admired for its originality and atmospheric storytelling. When Sohum shared the vision for the sequel, I liked the story, and I joined them in their journey. Collaborating with Sohum Shah and Pen Studios on a project of this scale is truly exciting. The character I’ll be portraying has many layers, and I’m looking forward to exploring this immersive universe with such a passionate team.”

The sequel's production has not yet started. It was announced last month that Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna were the two candidates being considered for the role. In the end, Nawazuddin was cast. The movie will probably go deeper into the themes of terror, greed, and human nature that made the first one so popular. Tumbbad 2 is being produced by Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios under the direction of Rahi Anil Barve. The release date of the movie has not yet been disclosed.

Tumbbad, the precursor, takes place in a Maharashtra village. The movie follows Sohum Shah's character, Vinayak Rao, as he searches for a legendary treasure protected by the evil Hastar and is overcome by passion and greed. With a compelling plot that carries on the story, the sequel aims to expand on the legendary world created in the original movie.
