Big Breaking! Sonakshi Sinha's Nikita Roy Movie Release Postponed to Avoid Box Office Clash

The film 'Nikita Roy', which starred Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role, has been delayed. The makers said in a statement on Thursday that the movie, which was originally scheduled to open in theatres on June 27, will instead open on July 18. "Battle of screens" was the reason given by the makers for the decision. However, director Kush Sinha chose to leave the dispute even though his film has 55% more BMS likes than Kajol's. On BMS, his movie received around 73K likes, compared to just 47K for Kajol's Maa.

Sinha posted the message on her Instagram account, saying, "Hi guys! We have found ourselves during multiple releases and a battle for screens. With advice from our well-wishers in the fraternity, distributors and exhibitors, we have collectively decided to push our release to the 18th of July, so that we can reach a wider audience. Thank you for the immense love you have shown for the film so far, but you’ll have to wait a little longer, and we promise you, 18th July will be worth the wait! See you in the theatres (sic)."

Despite dominating the pre-box office battle, the decision to postpone the movie may have been a sensible one to avoid conflict. It has avoided the box office war with Kajol's Maa for the following three reasons. While Maa and Nikita Roy were fighting it out at the box office, Kajol was winning the number of screens. Additionally, Sonakshi Sinha's Nikita Roy could not have succeeded at the box office with fewer screens. The movie would at least have a reasonable chance of surviving now!

In addition to facing competition from Kajol's Maa, the movie would have also had to co-screen with Sitaare Zameen Par and Housefull 5. In the meantime, Sonakshi Sinha's film may have been hindered by the pan-Indian film Kannappa! It might be wise to flee this fierce struggle! Nikita Roy is a supernatural thriller, and because the genre is often doing well at the box office, Sonakshi Sinha's picture may have a little more time to build anticipation if Kajol's Maa sails. It might have been suicide to bring two movies of nearly the same genre on the same day!

It was directed by Kussh Sinha and written by Nikita Roy and Pavan Kirpalani. I hope the movie has a good shot at the box office and generates enough excitement in the days ahead to sail!
