Chhaava Director Laxman Uttekar Meets Raj Thackeray, Agrees to Delete Objectionable Scenes of Vicky Kaushal

In the midst of the controversy surrounding his new film, Chhaava, filmmaker Laxman Uttekar met Raj Thackeray, the head of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Their conference served to resolve issues and address worries over the movie. The director told the media after his discussion with the politician that all offensive portions from the Vicky Kaushal film would be cut before it was released. He promised that the scenes in which Vicky plays Lezim will also be removed. Uttekar made it clear that he had no intention of offending anyone.

Additionally, he disclosed that the parts in the film where Vicky Kaushal plays the Lezim, a musical instrument and Maharashtra folk dance, would also be cut. In a post on X Samant wrote, “It is a matter of joy that a Hindi film is being made based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the protector of religion and freedom. However, many have expressed their opinions that there are some objectionable scenes in this film. Our position is that this film should not be released without first showing it to experts and knowledgeable people.”

Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, a former Rajya Sabha MP and descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, also stated his wish to see the entire movie before its premiere in an interview with PTI prior to Samant. To guarantee that this important story is told to audiences around the world authentically, he also volunteered to put them in touch with historians to correct any errors.

Vicky Kaushal plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the movie. For those who do not know, the founder of the Maratha empire had an eldest son named Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. In addition, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta have significant roles in the movie.
