FWICE Urges Film Producers to Boycott Turkey Over Its Support for Pakistan

Indian filmmakers have been advised not to shoot in Turkey by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), which advocates for artists, technicians, and labourers in the Indian film industry. This action is a reaction to Turkey's growing backing of Pakistan on issues that affect India's national interests. According to a press release released by FWICE, the apex organization for 36 crafts of workers, technicians, and artists in the Indian media and entertainment sector, strongly advises all Indian film producers to think twice before selecting Turkey as a shooting location given its increasing support for Pakistan on issues that are of great national importance to India.

The opening line of the statement was, “The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the apex body representing 36 crafts of workers, technicians, and artists in the Indian media and entertainment industry, strongly urges all Indian film producers to reconsider choosing Turkey as a shooting destination in light of its growing support towards Pakistan on matters that deeply concern India’s national interests."

It further added, FWICE has always stood firm in its belief that 'Nation Comes First.' Given recent developments and Turkey’s consistent positioning in support of Pakistan, which has raised concerns regarding national integrity and security, we believe it is not in the best interests of the Indian film industry to invest or collaborate in any form that could indirectly support or benefit such a nation."
