Health Update: Music Maestro AR Rahman Hospitalized in Chennai Following London Trip

Last night, the Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman made his way back to Chennai from London. He allegedly had a check-up after feeling ill.

According to reports on Sunday, physicians indicated that musician AR Rahman had to be brought to a hospital in Chennai on Saturday night because of "dehydration." After returning to Chennai from London last night, the Oscar-winning music director sought a check-up after feeling uneasy. The physicians claimed that because the musician had been fasting for Ramzan, he was dehydrated and feeling ill.

Around 7:30 am, he was taken to the hospital and given several tests, such as an echocardiography and an ECG. According to hospital sources, he might have an angiography. They reported that he was safe and well now. 

One of India's most renowned multi-instrumentalists, record producers, and composers is A Rahman, who goes by his initials ARR. His contributions to Tamil and Hindi cinema are his most well-known, while he occasionally works on other productions. 

AR Rahman Under Medical Observation:

In the course of his remarkable career, Mr. Rahman has won six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award, six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and eighteen Filmfare Awards. The Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour in India, was given to him by the government in 2010.

Due to a recent medical issue, his ex-wife Saira Banu was also admitted to the hospital and required surgery. Her attorney, Vandana Shah, released the information in a formal statement. Additionally, after almost 29 years of marriage, Saira Banu and AR Rahman announced their separation on November 19, 2024. Three children were born to the couple: Raheema, Khatija, and Ameen.

Mr. Rahman is well-known for his humanitarian endeavors and support of numerous charitable causes in addition to his musical accomplishments. His contributions to international music were acknowledged by Stanford University in 2006, and the Rotary Club presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He was listed among the top 100 important people in the world by Time magazine in 2009.
