According to trustworthy sources, Karan Johar is currently casting for his upcoming pure horror thriller.

Bollywood Hugmama quotes a source saying, "Karan Johar has locked a horror thriller for his banner, Dharma Productions and has roped in Aditya Roy Kapur to play the lead character. Adi read the script and didn't take long to come on board. It's a unique project, and everyone at Dharma is bullish about the theatrical prospects of the genre."

Pre-production has already begun, and the movie is scheduled to begin production in May 2026. Although the director's identity is still unknown, negotiations are underway with a premier actress to star opposite Kapur. Johar and Kapur, who last worked together on Ok Jaanu, are getting back together. 

According to the source, a top-tier female lead and Aditya Roy Kapur are in advanced negotiations to star in the movie, which is scheduled to begin production in May 2026. The source added, "The prep work has already begun at Dharma, but the director's name has been kept under wraps for now." But compared to their previous love drama, the horror thriller will be very different. Johar is indicating a daring new path for Kapur and his production company with this action.

Talking about their last film, OK Jaanu, it was released in 2017. The film starred Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The Mani Ratnam-directed Tamil romantic drama O Kandhal Kanmani (2015) was remade under the direction of Shaad Ali.
