The well-known Punjabi actress Sonam Bajwa is signing a lot of people. Riding high on the popularity of her Bollywood debut, Housefull 5, she appears in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, directed by Harashvardhan Rane, and Baaghi 4, starring Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt. According to the most recent rumours, Sonam has now committed to another significant project. The patriotic drama Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, is said to have her on board.
The first actress for Border 2 has reportedly been onboarded by the production team. Sonam Bajwa, who debuted in Bollywood with Housefull 5, has been cast in Border 2 as the key female character. In the film, she will be coupled with Diljit Dosanjh.
A popular media channel revealed a source quoting, “Sonam Bajwa is paired alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2. Much like Border, her character has a strong emotional arc, and her dynamics with Diljit will stand out as one of the major highlights, alongside the war sequences and the Indo-Pak conflict.”
Border 2 Movie New Cast:
The informant added that Diljit and the rest of the actors have started filming in Pune, and the rest will follow shortly. From June to mid-August, all of the main actors—Sunny, Varun, Diljit, Ahan, and Sonam—will work together on the joint shoot of Border 2. "A female lead opposite Varun Dhawan is currently being sought after," the insider stated. Sonam's casting in Border 2 has not yet been confirmed by the film's producers, though.
The source further stated, “Border 2 will be shot from June until mid-August, with a combination shoot of all the lead actors – Sunny, Varun, Diljit, Ahan, and Sonam, among others. The makers will be locking one more top female actor to play the parts alongside Varun, and the casting is presently underway."
Sonam and Diljit previously collaborated on Punjabi films, including Shadaa, Ranna Ch Dhanna, Super Singh, Sardaar Ji, Sardaar Ji 2, and Honsla Rakh. The film is produced by JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and T-Series and directed by Anurag Singh, who is best known for Kesari. On Republic Day in 2026, it is slated to be released on large screens. The film is a follow-up to the Battle of Longewala-based cult classic Border, released in 1997. The movie received multiple accolades and was a huge smash.
Returning to Sonam, her next appearance is in Baaghi 4, which is slated for theatrical release on September 5. The Bengal Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, will collide with the movie.
