Director Anurag Basu has come forward to clarify the situation amid rumours that Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela's untitled love musical had been delayed. According to recent reports, the film's release was being delayed because of thematic similarities to another romantic musical that has been doing remarkably well at the box office, Saiyaara.

Expectations for the musical drama are extremely high, even though it has been made clear that it is not a part of the Aashiqui series. With Saiyaara's popularity and box office success, there are now rumours that the Anurag Basu-directed film, which was originally scheduled for a Diwali release, has been rescheduled for early 2026. The filmmaker said, "Given that both films feature performers as lead characters, comparisons were expected. But the two stories are entirely different." He further added, “Kartik was busy with Karan Johar’s film, and I was also occupied with Metro (Metro.. In Dino)’s release. We’ll soon move on to our next schedule and aim to wrap the film soon."

Since the project's announcement, there has been a lot of excitement about the Kartik-Sreeleela film.
