Midway through January, during the Pongal season, Jiiva's Tamil political satire became an unexpected viral sensation. The film, which was directed by Malayali filmmaker Nitish Sahadev ("Falimy"), is making its way to streaming services over a month after its theatrical debut. The comedic performer will be available to stream on Netflix starting on February 12.

The film eventually capitalised on the holiday crowds by pushing forward its cinema release date when Jana Nayagan was postponed. Jiiva's character, Jeevaratnam, a local panchayat head in charge of wedding preparations, is at the center of the village-set plot. The happy atmosphere is upset when a death occurs in a nearby home and the bereaved family demands that the funeral be held on the same day as the wedding. The resulting confrontation is shaped by tradition, pride, and emotion. As tensions between the two families increase, Jeevaratnam attempts to intervene and restore harmony to the town.

In order to avoid a significant, explosive conflict, Jeevarathinam must negotiate egos, customs, and rural politics as tensions increase. Much of the action is limited to a single, intense night as the story interweaves situational comedy, societal satire, and character interactions.

The film was hailed by general reviews as a fantastic festival viewing and family entertainment because of its humour, writing, and captivating sequences. According to several assessments, it's a familiar yet pleasurable film that strikes a balance between comedy and drama. The film's captivating plot and character performances, particularly Jiiva's in the lead role, were praised by the audience. Sanjo Joseph, Nithish Sahadev, and Anuraj O. B. co-wrote the script for Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which is produced by Kannan Ravi.
