Actor Vijay Thalapathy's final movie, Jana Nayagan, has been delayed "due to unforeseen circumstances," notwithstanding the Madras High Court's reserved judgment. Malik Streams Corporation, the movie's Malaysian distributor, provided the update on X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday night.

The production company wrote on Twitter, saying, "It is with a heavy heart that we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release of Jana Nayagan, eagerly awaited on January 9, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control."

It further read, Due to unforeseen circumstances, the initial release of Jana Nayagan, scheduled for 9 January 2026, has been postponed to a later date. We are currently awaiting further updates from the production team. Once the new release date is confirmed, official announcements will be shared through our authorised platforms.”

Jana Nayagan Movie Release Date:

The movie has been rescheduled, according to Ahimsa Entertainment, the UK distributor. A heated confrontation over the movie's certification coincides with the delay. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was directed to establish a new committee to examine the movie after the Madras High Court postponed its decision about its release on Wednesday. The board had recommended edits and muted dialogue on December 19, but the film had not received its censor certificate despite being submitted more than a month earlier. As a result, the producers had gone to court.

Fans are waiting for more information since the India release plan has been postponed indefinitely due to certification. Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Vijay, and Prakash Raj are among the actors in this H Vinoth-directed movie. On December 18, the film crew submitted it for censorship after finishing all of the work. On December 19, the censor board that watched the movie reportedly suggested that certain sequences be cut and certain words be muted. The petitioner movie production company submitted a censor certificate, but it has still not been issued despite the modifications recommended by the censor board members.
