On August 25, 1999, Thalapathy Vijay and his spouse, Sangeetha Sornalingam, were married. The celebrity wife has reportedly filed a divorce petition, indicating that the couple is apparently planning a split after over 27 years of marriage. According to reports, the actor's suspected extramarital romance with an actress may have been the reason for the decision.

Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha are the couple's two children; they were married in August 1999. The Special Marriage Act of 1954, which permits a spouse to file for divorce for reasons like infidelity and cruelty, forms the basis for the legal proceedings. Sangeetha, 48, claimed in the suit that Vijay, 51, had an extramarital affair with a female actor. According to the petition, Sangeetha learned in 2021 that Vijay "was involved in an adulterous relationship with an actress."

Thalapathy Vijay in Personal Turmoil:

A copy of Sangeetha Sornalingam's petition has reportedly gone viral online. According to reports, the famous wife has accused Thalapathy Vijay of having an adulterous affair with an actress, which she says she found out about in April 2021. According to the allegations, Vijay promised to break up with the actress. Sangeetha allegedly suffered from emotional, mental, and even physical distress as a result of his alleged continuation of the affair.

Vijay's "continued adulterous conduct and repeated social media controversies" in 2024, according to Sangeetha, severely tortured her mental health. Their marriage, she said, has essentially ended and now only exists on paper. She claims that the connection brings her nothing but "mental agony, indignity, humiliation and suffering" and is incapable of being revived.

According to Sections 27(1)(a) and 27(1)(d) of the Special Marriage Act, these facts proved crucial to Sangeetha's grounds for divorce. Divorce is permitted under the Special Marriage Act of 1954 in cases when one spouse is deemed to have cheated on the other or mistreated the other. Both of these legal justifications are mentioned in Sangeetha's plea in the current proceedings. The District Court is now considering the case, and a decision has not yet been made.
