India and the West Indies will be playing the second ODI of the three-match series on September 30, 2026. This game will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Assam. India won the first game in Thiruvananthapuram by 8 wickets, chasing down 295 runs with ease.
There is a possibility that India might make a few changes to their playing XI, given that a few of the players looked out of colour. There was also a danger that India was playing a bowler short, and it affected the proceedings in the middle overs. 3. Auqib Nabi
Auqib Nabi has been included in the Indian team for the second time. He was part of the Indian Test team for the Sri Lankan series, and this is his first ODI call-up for India. Nabi has 56 List-A wickets and also has a century as well. Auqib Nabi can replace Nitish Kumar Reddy and can be used as a bowling all-rounder. He has shown a penchant for batting well and is clearly a better bowler than Reddy and can be a good experiment against a lower-ranked side.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the backup opener of the Indian team but needs ample game time as well. Rohit Sharma has the backing of BCCI for the 2027 World Cup, and there is no harm in benching him and giving Yashasvi Jaiswal a chance to play two ODIs against the West Indies. Jaiswal will need game time on the road to the 2027 World Cup, in case he is to be blooded into the XI at a crucial time. He made a century in the last ODI he played for India and has two tons in the six 50-over games he has played for India.
1. Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj is the senior pacer, and it was a surprise that he was benched for Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar for the first ODI. Siraj last played an ODI for India in January this year against New Zealand. Nitish Kumar Reddy opened the bowling and went for 45 runs in 5 overs, while Krishna and Brar went for 120 runs in 20 overs for 2 wickets. It would be better if Gautam Gambhir-led management stopped experimenting and included Siraj as the lead pacer.
