The five-T20I series between India and West Indies ended in a 2-2 draw, with the fifth and final T20I at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru getting washed out due to rain. While the West Indies team put India under severe pressure, the three-time T20 World Champions fought hard.
While there were many concerns that rose up from the 2-2 draw T20I series, there were some brilliant positives for the Indian cricket team ahead of their five T20Is against New Zealand. Let’s have a look at the three good things the Indian team got after the West Indies T20Is.
Here are the 3 positives for Team India after the IND vs. WI T20I series:
3. Young pacers showing guts
India preferred to have a young pacer attack in the West Indies T20I series, featuring the likes of Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. All three bowlers impressed Indian management, and despite India failing to defend 249 runs and giving away 247 runs in T20Is this series, things look good for the future.
2. Naman Dhir
Naman Dhir was a surprise debutant in the series, and while he didn’t get to do much with the bat until the last T20I, where he smacked 24* runs in 6 balls, he impressed with the ball. He took three wickets and showed that he had a good knack for picking wickets when one was needed. He has shown he can take on the pacers and spinners alike and turned out to be a bright prospect for the Indian white-ball team going forward.
1. Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson’s fiery starts
Ishan Kishan smashed 153 runs in 3 games, with a strike rate of 191.25 and a best score of 43. He ensured India didn’t waste the good and fiery starts openers gave the team and continued in the same vein. He has made the no. 3 spot his own and looked comfortable, smashing both pacers and being brutal against spin. Sanju Samson made 168 runs with two fifties with a strike rate of 195.34. He was at ease with the pace up front and took a couple of balls to get his eye in and then go smash.
