According to reports in the Indian media, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 mini-auction will take place in Goa in December, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia.
“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations – Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year – we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” Saikia told ANI.
The IPL 2027 auction will be the last mini-auction of the ongoing 2023-27 cycle. The mini-auction is scheduled in the second week of December. However, there is no confirmation on the retention deadline for the franchises.
The BCCI Secretary also stated that the IPL 2027 season will start at the end of March 2027, contrary to reports of an earlier start. However, the official start and end dates aren’t confirmed yet.
Delving into the details of the players and personnel changes ahead of the season, Rishabh Pant returned to the Delhi Capitals (DC), while Kuldeep Yadav has been traded to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have appointed the former left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan as their new head coach for one year. Also, Mumbai Indians appointed the former Indian first-class cricketer Zubin Bharucha as Director of Performance.
Meanwhile, the BCCI also officially confirmed that the mini-auction for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi on Wednesday, October 28.
