The retention list for each of the ten Indian Premier League (IPL) teams will be scrutinized by global cricket over the course of the next 48 hours, with the deadline being October 31. KL Rahul's future with the Lucknow Super Giants has been one of the most fascinating topics among the supporters. Additionally, a new source stated that Rahul chose to leave Lucknow despite a retention offer, despite the franchise's earlier indication that they were unlikely to keep its captain.
According to sources, KL Rahul's three-year contract with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is over, and the team will have a new manager in the 2024 Indian Premier League. Rahul guided LSG to the playoffs in their first two seasons of the IPL, which began in 2022.
Big Change for KL Rahul:
However, the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team's seventh-place position on the points table made IPL 2024 a letdown. After they engaged in a heated argument after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad, it appeared that Goenka and Rahul's friendship had soured. When the Indian cricket player visited Kolkata in August to meet Goenka, it appeared that their differences had been resolved.

The Times of India (TOI) reports that despite the Super Giants handing him the best retention agreement, the batsman-wicketkeeper has left the team. A source told TOI, "LSG were ready to offer top retention bracket to Rahul, but Rahul eventually decided to move on due to personal and professional reasons."
KL Rahul's expertise as a skipper of clubs like the Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants may make him one of the most sought-after players in the IPL 2025 mega auction. In a stand-in role, he has also headed India. The source further added, "At the moment, there are four franchises who have expressed their interest in him - Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, and the Chennai Super Kings. Expect all four to go hard for him in the auction."
