The Delhi Capitals are the final side to declare their captain for the IPL 2025 season, having chosen Axar Patel. Notably, the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will play their opening match of the 2025 Indian Premier League on March 22.ย
Axar, 31, has been a key player for the squad for six years and was paid โน16.5 crore to stay with them. He has captained Gujarat in domestic cricket and was named India's T20I vice-captain in January 2025, with the series against England serving as his first assignment. However, his IPL leadership experience is limited.ย

Shubman Gill will continue to lead the Gujart Titans in the 2025 Indian Premier League. After reaching the finals in 2022 and 2023, GT had a poor season in 2024. The Titans only managed to win five of their 14 games and finished in eighth place.ย
